Albannach was the first band to ever promote Celtic Pink Ribbon from a stage. It was at Mid-Winter Scottish & Irish Music Festival 2012 and I had just received 13 cases of Volume I. Not having any idea what to expect, I only brought ONE case with me to Mid-Winter. Jamesie took the stage, held up the CD, said something about liking breasts and I was SOLD OUT! First set of a 3-day festival and I was out of stock. It was a bad business mistake I'll never make again. My quick-thinking friend and sales assistant for the weekend whipped out her laptop and started taking orders to be shipped when we got back to DC. I'm always hesitant to say this, because I never want to offend one of the other bands on the compilations who have helped promote the CDs, but truth be told, Albannach has been responsible for the sale of more copies of Celtic Pink Ribbon than any other band. I don't know what it is about Jamesie's speech about the CD, but as soon as he begins to talk about them they literally FLY out of my hand. We started having to send 2 or 3 volunteers to each Albannach set to keep up with the demand. I'm so grateful to the band, and to their loyal fans, for all the money they've raised/contributed to help end breast cancer. There was one funny / scary moment a couple years ago at the Annapolis Irish Festival. It first time Jamesie offered "free breast examines" with any copy of Celtic Pink Ribbon purchased. I was instantly surrounded by about 15 women and had to explain he was kidding. They were not too happy, but thankfully bought the CD anyway. It gave me an idea for a brilliant fundraiser that hopefully we'll be able to do in the future. It would be a t-shirt something like below. What do you think??? Jamesie, Aya, Colin, Donnie and Jacquie have been very supportive of Celtic Pink Ribbon from the moment I approached them about Volume I. They are a great group of people and I'm thankful every day they are a part of the Celtic Pink Ribbon family. |
