Truth be told, Scythian and I didn't start off on very sure footing, but we've definitely turned that around. They have become staunch supporter of the Celtic Pink Ribbon compilations and dear friends. I simply ADORE them. Long story short, they disagreed with the organization earmarked to receive funds from Volume I. Don't read too much into that. There were no hard feelings and we had frank and honest discussions about the situation. While they were one of the 26 bands on the first compilation, they did not promote it online or onstage, and I was FINE with that.
We continued the dialog and when Volume II was released we expanded where the donations went and Scythian shouted far and wide about the compilation :) The lesson here is communication is key, even difficult communication. I'm VERY GRATEFUL to Scythian because the situation with Volume I made me work harder and faster to obtain our 501(c)(3) status. In fact, the band was among the first people I emailed when we received the official notice from the IRS. I've not seen them since we received the news, but we are all going to share a celebration toast when our paths do cross.
I have fun at all music events, but I especially look forward to ones where Scythian is in the line-up. Why? Because their shows are downright FUN!!!! Their energy is amazing and they give everything to the crowd. And the crowd gives it right back. Everyone dances with everyone. There is jigging, twirling, do-si-doing, skipping, jumping, and LOTS of smiling and laughing. Their shows are a workout and it is by far the most fun I've ever had working out. I ever win the lottery I'm hiring them to do three sets a week for me so I can get back in shape.
I am hoping to convince them to do a Celtic Pink Ribbon Presents fundraising concert one of these days. How fun would that be???
